  • MTSS

NC MTSS is a multi-tiered framework which promotes school improvement through engaging, research-based academic and behavioral practices as well as Social Emotional Learning (SEL). NC MTSS employs a systems approach using data-driven problem-solving to maximize growth for all.

    ACS MTSS Vision

In Asheville City Schools, we work together and partner with students, families, and staff to create a sense of belonging for all. We collaborate to build learning environments where each student thrives and is safe, valued, and seen through a multi-tiered system of supports.

    ACS MTSS Mission

Asheville City Schools will achieve this vision by:

    • Believing that each student can achieve or exceed grade level benchmarks

    • Using strategies that are proactive and preventative

    • Leveraging the strengths of staff and students to maximize growth for each student

    • Providing high-quality academic, behavior, and social-emotional core instruction

    • Fostering a sense of belonging for each student, staff member, and family

    • Building self-awareness of and reflecting on the impact of biases, culture, and identity

    • Examining systems and practices to reduce disproportionality with a focus on Black students and students with disabilities

    • Working collaboratively with families and community partners

    • Minimizing exclusionary practices that remove students from their class community and core instruction

    • Regularly monitoring data to positively impact instruction and refine systems
