Degrees and Certifications:
I have been teaching young children for the past 27 years. Upon graduation from Western Carolina University with Bachelor of Science in Education, I spent my first 7 years teaching Kindergarten on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. After my daughter was born we relocated to Arden and I began teaching First Grade at Hall Fletcher in 1999. This began my teaching with Asheville City Schools. Seven must be my lucky number because I taught First Grade for 7 years and decided to get a B-K Licensure which is when I moved to teach Preschool at Asheville City Schools Preschool (now Asheville Primary). I was Lead Teacher for several years and then had the opportunity to help with Preschool expansion at Hall Fletcher when we opened a Pre-K classroom in 2015. Most recently I have the position of Teaching and Learning Facilitator, helping teachers create a safe and caring environment where children can learn and thrive.
I recently remarried in October 2017. We live in Fletcher and have two daughters, a Senior at NC State and a Sophomore at West Henderson High School. In my spare time I enjoy making many types of crafts, going to the beach, sitting in our gazebo watching the sunset, and occasionally joining my husband on his hunting trips in Georgia. I truly love my job and sharing my joy of teaching with the students and families at our Preschool.
