Homebound services are provided for a student's extended absence from school due to a severe, prolonged or chronic illness under a physician's care or as an IEP placement. Service is temporary and its primary purpose is to maintain access to a free and appropriate public education while ensuring access to the curriculum. Absences are anticipated to be a minimum of four weeks with shorter term absences are handled at the school level. Requests are made by the student's attending physician on a school referral form.
