    Our Social Justice League provides training to our new staff on structural racism and implicit bias. All staff participate in continued whole staff professional development on implicit bias, microaggressions and how to make their classrooms socially just and culturally responsive. What began as a grant from Learning for Justice (formerly Teaching Tolerance) that was awarded in 2018, all Claxton K-5 teachers have 3 half days of unit planning in order to strategically integrate the Social Justice Standards from Learning for Justice. 

     

    For 2020-21, our goal is to continue to support classroom teachers with resources, especially during remote learning. Our team is also doing work around what it means to de-center whiteness in our school and classroom community. We are also supporting our CLX SJL Parent Auxiliary Team, which has provided virtual sessions on racial equity for our families and caregivers.
