• Marianne Simmons

Marianne Simmons was born in Julian, California, a small mountain town in San Diego county famous for its gold mines and apple orchards. However, she lived a significant part of her developmental years in Brazil. While living in Brazil, she attended two international schools and her passion for learning and exploring different cultures took root. She moved to Asheville in 1992 with her parents and graduated from Asheville High School in 1994. She attended UNCA and Appalachian State and began teaching at Vance Elementary in 1999. In 2013 she took the leap into international teaching and accepted an elementary teaching position at InterAmerican Academy, an international school located on the coast of Ecuador.  But Asheville is her home and this summer she happily returned to Western North Carolina where she enjoys hiking and trail running in the healing mountains. She is so excited to join the vibrant Asheville Primary School community and begin her journey as a Montessorian.
