Asheville City Schools provides special education and related services for eligible students, ages 3 to 21.
Specially designed instruction is based on the student’s Individual Education Program (IEP) and provided in their least restrictive environment (LRE) through a continuum of services based on the child's individual needs. IEPs are implemented using research-based instructional practices and strategies. Special education teachers work in collaboration with general education teachers and parents to ensure all students with IEPs are entitled to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
