My name is Brian Powchak and I am the new 8th Grade Assistant Principal. I have returned to Asheville Middle after spending the last decade as a Behavior Specialist in Buncombe County Schools. Prior to my role in Buncombe County, I was a Special Education teacher here at AMS for 5 years and really loved the community and spirit of Cougar Nation! I am really excited to be back! I have a Cougar family as my wife works for Asheville City Schools and both of our children are at Asheville High School. I have a simple philosophy of education: Educators serve students, families, and the community to help our young people shine as the pride of our hometown! Go Cougars!
