• Welcome to Asheville Middle School!

In terms of being an educator, I'm Asheville City Schools born and bred.  After graduating from Appalachian State, I moved to Asheville without knowing a soul and was lucky enough to start my teaching career in 2007 at Lucy S. Herring Elementary School(formerly Vance). I taught 4th grade there until 2017.  From there, I was accepted into the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program, which afforded me the opportunity to take a two-year leave of absence from teaching.  During that time, I obtained my Master of School Administration degree from Western Carolina, worked part-time with the Curriculum and Instruction team at Central Office, and completed a year-long internship at Jones Elementary and Asheville Middle.  I fell in love with Asheville Middle School and its focus on educational equity leading me to become an assistant principal. After spending five years as an assistant principal at AMS, I feel so fortunate to move into the role of principal.

I am passionate about engaging, inquiry-based instruction that puts every child at the center of their own education.  I'm also passionate about teachers and faculty.  They are the lifeblood of the school and have the opportunity to help students become their best selves.  I currently view my role as someone that should support students, families, and teachers by helping to remove as many barriers as possible while simultaneously helping everyone I serve to reflect and grow.
