The Academically-Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Program at Asheville Middle School serves sixth, seventh and eight-grade students who qualify through the criteria set by Asheville City Schools. Coordinated and taught by Andy Weatherly and Taylor Rathbun, services focus on differentiation of core content material in Math and/or English/Language Arts, enrichment, social and emotional support, and interest-based learning. Highlights of the program include opportunities to participate in:
- National Junior Honor Society
The following groups/activities are not taking place during Remote Learning.
- Debate Team
- Math Counts Club
- AMS Troutkeepers
- American Math Competitions
- N.C. High School Mathematics Contest
- National Geographic Geography Bee
- History Bee
Students also have the opportunity to take virtual classes online via the NC Virtual Public School.
