Complete Your Child's Free/Reduced Meal Application Form
If you have not already done so, this week is the perfect time to renew your child's free or reduced meal application, as the next window for data collection ends Tuesday, December 1st!
Although Asheville City Schools will continue to serve meals at no cost through our Food Distribution Sites, it’s important for your child's school that you submit your meal application form to determine eligibility.
Wondering why? Well, ALL elementary schools across the district receive significant funding through Title 1. These funds provide services like additional academic coaching, student supplies, teachers, tutoring, parent involvement events, and professional development. Additionally, school and district departments use this data to qualify for grants, homeless and foster children services as well as teacher-loan forgiveness.
All of these Title I services are critical to our district, as Title 1 is about providing equitable services to support learning opportunities. But, in order to receive this money, funding is determined based on the number of students eligible for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program.
Plus, qualifying for free and reduced lunch could result in possible new COVID-19 relief funds and the possible issuance of additional state EBT benefits.
What is the fastest and easiest way to apply? Complete an application at https://www.lunchapplication.com
And, if your family has already filled out an application and been approved this school year, you don’t need to apply again.
